Intellectual Disability
Part of our Child and Adolescent Psychometric Assessment Services
An intellectual disability assessment involves standardised cognitive testing and an assessment of adaptive functioning such as communication skills, daily living skills and social skills.
This assessment helps to determine if an individual meets the criteria for intellectual disability, which is characterized by significant limitations in intellectual functioning (such as reasoning, problem-solving, and learning) and adaptive behaviour (such as practical and social skills), typically occurring before the age of 18. The results of these assessments inform what supports the person needs and includes recommendations for school, home, allied health therapy interventions and other appropriate services.
